Mini has confirmed local pricing and specification for its next-generation Countryman, which will arrive in New Zealand within the next month.
No matter where your tastes lie, there will be a Countryman to match them as five variants are set to go on offer locally. These include the C and JCW All4, which will be introduced in Q1 2024, followed by the all-electric E, SE All4, and petrol-powered S All4 in Q3 2024.
The range begins with the combustion-engined C Core from $54,990, which features a turbocharged inline three-cylinder engine mated to a 48V mild hybrid system making 125kW and 280Nm of torque.
Specification can be ramped with the Classic and Favoured variants of the C, the latter of which brings features like a Harmon Kardon sound system, additional colours, and larger 19-inch wheels compared to the standard 18-inch units.
Sitting atop the petrol range is the Countryman JCW All4, priced from $79,990, with its turbocharged inline four-cylinder mild hybrid powertrain pumping out 221kW and 400Nm to all four wheels. When translated to the road, a sprint from 0 to 100km/h is achievable in 5.4 seconds.
Later this year, we’ll be introduced to the electric Countryman E from $74,990 which boasts a single electric motor making 150kW and 250Nm. Power is drawn from a 64kWh battery, good for 462km of range.
The electric Countryman will also come in all-wheel drive flavour in the SE All4 variant thanks to its dual electric motor arrangement with 230kW and 494Nm. Range comes to 432km, while the price tag jumps to $80,990 in its most basic trim level.
Mini is set to add another petrol variant to the range in Q3 2024, that being the S All4 from $64,990. Under the bonnet sits a turbocharged inline four-cylinder mated to a mild hybrid system making 160kW and 360Nm, which is good for an acceleration time of 0 to 100km/h in 7.1 seconds.
All Countryman variants will feature Mini’s new 240mm OLED centre console display, home to all vehicle information like speed and gearing, as well as the infotainment system which features both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
With the model now being bigger than it ever has been before, growing 60mm taller and 130mm longer, that means there is now more space inside.
In the petrol variants, up to 505 litres of luggage can be carted around with the rear seats up, but when folded, storage grows to 1530 litres. In the electric E and SE, storage comes to 460 litres and expands to 1450 litres with the seats folded down.
Mini New Zealand is currently accepting expressions of interest and deposits for the next-generation Countryman ahead of its imminent arrival.
