German luxury carmaker Audi has peeled back the covers on its new electric SUV today, the Q6 e-tron, and it’s coming to New Zealand in mid-2025.
This is the first Audi built on Volkswagen Group’s new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, as shared with the electric Porsche Macan that was revealed earlier this year. With that, we can expect plenty of power and range.
Speaking of, the Q6 e-tron features a 100kWh lithium-ion battery (94.9kWh net) which holds enough juice to travel up to 625km on a single charge. DC fast charging can be done at a maximum capacity of 270kW thanks to the PPE platform’s 800V technology, meaning the battery can be topped up to 255km of range in ten minutes.
As for power, the Q6 e-tron boasts a total system output of 285kW, good enough to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 210km/h. A sportier SQ6 e-tron variant is also on offer, which brings numbers up to 380kW with the ‘extra function’ engaged, allowing for a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 230km/h.
Both of the aforementioned variants are all-wheel drive, with them being Quattro, but Audi says it’s looking at introducing two models with rear-wheel drive at a later date depending on the market.
The Q6 e-tron measures up similarly to the Macan in the mid-size SUV segment, with its length coming to 4771mm, width to 1993mm, and height to 1648mm, while the wheelbase is 2899mm.
In terms of styling, the front end is highlighted by a closed-off grille and a set of LED headlights that can be personalised with eight digital light signatures, while the rear light features six OLED panels that can warn other road users of accidents and breakdowns by displaying integrated warning signals. Clever stuff.
Step inside and you’ll find a curved display mounted on top of the dashboard which consists of a 11.9-inch digital gauge cluster for the driver and a 14.5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. A 10.9-inch screen for the passenger is also on offer alongside an optional augmented reality head-up display.
When it comes to storage, the boot offers up to 526 litres of cargo space, which increases to 1529 litres with the rear seat folded down, while an additional 64 litres of storage space can be found under the bonnet.
Local pricing and specifications for the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron have yet to be finalised for New Zealand, but we can expect a local launch in the middle of next year.
