The likely replacement for Kia Cerato sedan is set to be revealed at the New York International Auto Show next week, only now it’s got a new name – K4.
While the shadowy teaser shots of the new model don’t give away too much, it’s clear to see that Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language will make an appearance thanks to its star-map light signatures and boxed fenders, as first seen on the EV9.
The rest of its design looks to be inspired by the EV4 concept, with its roofline sloping down towards the rear boot lid to create a fastback-like silhouette. It’s also got a funky-looking C-pillar where the side windows meet the rear bodywork, a styling choice that’ll probably be hit or miss for most.
Nothing has been mentioned about what’s under the bonnet, but we don’t expect it to be electric as there’s no mention of “EV” in its name like Kia’s other zero-emissions models. With that, the K4 could indeed be a hybrid.
As for New Zealand availability, Kia no longer offers the Cerato locally, meaning there’s room for the K4 to slot in here. However, nothing has been confirmed by the Korean carmaker just yet.
While we won’t get to hear all the nitty gritty details, the design of the 2025 Kia K4 will be fully revealed at the New York International Auto Show on March 27, 2024.
