French carmaker Peugeot has drummed up its rendition of the electric seven-seat SUV, dubbed the E-5008, which offers 660km of driving range and a swanky-looking interior.
The new model is based on the STLA Medium platform from parent company Stellantis, meaning the E-5008 shares its underpinnings with the smaller E-3008.
With that being said, it inherits a 73kWh lithium-ion battery in the entry-level model, which is good for 500km when powering the two-wheel drive variant. While the former get-up produces 157kW or 170kW and 345Nm of torque, a dual motor all-wheel drive variant with 237kW/515Nm is also on offer. However, the extra power and weight will no doubt have an impact on range.
A larger 98kWh battery can be fitted as an option, bringing the driving range up to 660km.
The E-3008 supports AC charging at up to 11kW as standard or 22kW with an optional charger, as well as DC fast charging at up to 160kW, the latter of which can add 100km of range in 10 minutes or recharge the battery from 20 to 80 per cent in half an hour.
Peugeot also plans to release a 48V mild-hybrid variant of the model alongside the all-electric E-5008, followed by a plug-in hybrid in 2025.
When it comes to its design, the new SUV is quite the looker, with the French carmaker’s distinct three-claw driving lights highlighting the front end, alongside the standard LED headlights or optional ‘Pixel’ LED units.
You won’t find a single bit of chrome anywhere on the E-5008 as Peugeot thought a variety of painted trim elements were better suited, including Meteor Grey on the front and rear bumpers, and Orbital Black on the mirrors and lower beltline.
There are six body colours to choose from, with most of those being white to black tones, while a set of 19- to 20-inch wheels tops the look off.
The style continues inside thanks to a sizable 21-inch panoramic display spanning half the width of the dashboard, featuring a gauge cluster for the driver and a touchscreen for infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is included as standard too.
Regarding storage, the E-5008 can lug around up to 1815 litres with both the second and third rows folded down, 748 litres with just the third row down, and 259 litres with all seven seats up.
The 2025 Peugeot E-5008 is expected to go on sale overseas in our spring, but there’s no word on whether the model will be sold in New Zealand just yet.
