Over the last 12 months we’ve seen all sorts of Holdens sell for stupendous amounts of money; from a secret underground (and eventually record-breaking) HSV GTS-R Maloo W1 project, to the last Holden Commodore ever made in Australia.
But, it all pales in comparison to the latest trio of Holdens to be listed for auction over the ditch.
Three matching HSV GTS-Rs have been listed onto auction website Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers; an original 1996 HSV VS GTS-R, an HSV VF GTS-R W1, and an HSV VF GTS-R Maloo W1.
Each of them is painted in the same XU3 Yellah shade of yellow; a factory colour (well, the factory colour) for the VS, but a colour that would have been a special order on the two VFs.
Both the VS GTS-R and the Maloo W1 are build No. 001 in their respective production runs, adding yet another layer of provenance, while the W1 sedan is No. 017. Each has barely been driven, with just 86km (VS GTS-R), 16km (GTS-R W1), and 19km (GTS-R Maloo W1) showing.
All three cars are not registered, with the VS and W1 sedan noted in their descriptions as having never been registered, ever. We suspect the Maloo has also never been registered.
At the time of writing, bidding for the trio combined had exceeded AU$670,000 with 29 days of auction to go. The trio is expected to sell for around $2,000,000 in total, but in the current sales climate they could sell for even more.
Apart from representing two of the last Holdens ever made, the HSV W1 twins are also the most powerful Australian cars ever produced. Both get GM’s Corvette-derived LS9 6.2-litre supercharged V8, producing 474kW of power and 815Nm of torque.
The VS GTS-R, meanwhile, is one of just 85 produced in the 1990s, with bodywork inspired by the V8 Supercars series and a more powerful 215kW 5.7-litre stroker V8.
The three auctions close on September 29th. We can’t wait to see the values of these three pristine V8 brutes.
