The horsepower wars are not dead in the US with Texan tuner, Hennessey, rolling out the Venom 775 F-150. It’s a truck which the firm proudly states ‘promises Ram TRX-crushing power and performance’.
The pick-up starts as a standard V8-powered F-150 but Hennessey nearly doubles the horsepower of the stock 5.0-litre by bolting on a large-bore twin-screw supercharger and new intercooler system. Both the power and torque figures have been tuned to surpass the TRX, the Ford with 775hp (577kW), that’s 73 more than the Ram, while torque of 930Nm bests the Ram by 47 units. Other upgrades include improved breathing, a new throttle body and engine management systems.
They claim the Venom 775 to be lighter than the TRX by as much as 900kg, depending on the spec, and to be faster as a result. Hennessey says the Venom 775 can hit 96km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the quarter mile is dusted in 12.0 seconds.
The 775 mods can be applied to either a 4×4 or rear drive F-150, while retaining the factory driving modes. Wanna go off-road? Hennessey can add an off-road upgrade with integrated front and rear Venom bumpers, a front LED bar, a 6-inch lift kit, and 20-inch Hennessey 10-spoke wheels wrapped in 35-inch off-road tires.
Mr Hennessey says; “Our dedicated Ford customers have been eager for a showroom stock ‘TRX killer’ since Ram unveiled the truck. Our engineers have delivered with more horsepower, more torque and more capability – I could not be more pleased. Our new Venom 775 F-150 is faster and lighter than the factory TRX, and our order books are filling fast with F-150 fans determined to regain the high-ground.”
Hennessey will build 100 units of the 775, each starting at $US110,000. The truck comes with a three-year / 60,000km warranty and the truck is available with global shipping and can be ordered through Hennessey directly.
