General Motors Specialty Vehicles has finally confirmed pricing for its highly anticipated Corvette C8, with entry-level variants priced from $154,990.
In an announcement issued earlier today, GMSV New Zealand said that full specs for locally imported models are yet to be confirmed. However, it is set to offer the 2LT and 3LT models, the latter priced from $169,990. Both models will come standard with the Z51 Performance Package and Front Lift.
The release also confirmed that the convertible version is also on the way, priced at a $15,000 premium to its hard-top siblings. And, at the top of the range will sit a Carbon Edition variant, with an unnamed sticker price.
Perhaps most interesting is that Kiwis are already reaping the benefits of getting sports cars produced in right-hand drive direct from America. The primary reason why specs are yet to be confirmed for these cars is because they will be fresh MY2022 models. This is as opposed to the RHD-converted Camaro, which was often half a step behind what was on sale in the US.
“The Corvette is one of the world’s most recognisable sports cars and over-delivers with regards to performance expected of such a machine,” said GMSV New Zealand general manager Matthew Taylor.
“It is the epitome of a true icon as it has heritage, performance and unparalleled desirability – generation after generation. Full specifications for MY22 have not yet been released globally, but we anticipate being in a position to reveal more information in the second quarter, as well as pricing for the Carbon Edition.”
Given that each model will be equipped with the Z51 package, it can be confirmed that each will get Magnetic Selective Ride Control, uprated Brembo brakes, an electronic limited-slip differential, and added aero.
The GMSV release does not quote power figures between the models, although it’s worth noting that both the current 2LT and 3LT Corvette C8 extract 365kW of power from their 6.2-litre V8. The 3LT gets a more plush cabin, among its upgrades.
