While all the hype lately has been with the V4 models, Ducati has now updated the “gateway to the Multistrada universe”, namely, the V2 adventure bike. The new model is lighter, with improved ergonomics and fresh styling.
Spot the updated Multistrada V2 by its new graphics which feature the name of the model on both sides. Powering the range is the latest evolution of the 937 cc Testastretta 11° unit. The liquid-cooled desmodromic engine has four valves per cylinder and outputs 84kW and 100Nm of torque.
It is designed to deliver strong low end punch and requires an oil change every 15,000km with a valve clearance check at 30,000km intervals.
New for the engine are updated connecting rods, an eight-disc hydraulic clutch and a fresh gearbox, delivering more precise shifting, and making neutral easier to select.
A 19-inch front wheel ensures a smooth ride, and the S version gets semi-active suspension, improving safety and comfort. Ergonomics have come under the spotlight, with seat height reduced to 830mm and a narrower saddle up front, making it easier to straddle the bike at a standstill and for low speed manoeuvring. A lower 790mm seat height is an option.
Footpegs are 10mm lower, making the bike more comfortable for taller riders. And an overall weight reduction of 5kg for the 950 also aids day to day ease of riding, much of that from new lightweight rims.
Electronic safety items include cornering ABS, hill holder, TC, four riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro) and the new Ducati Brake Light system which flashes during sudden braking.
The S version adds cruise control, a full LED headlight equipped with cornering function, a quickshifter, and a high resolution five-inch colour TFT dashboard.
Several two-tone combinations are available, one being Ducati Red. A travel spec upgrade package comprising side bags, heated grips and centre stand is available on the S version.
On all models of the Multistrada family, Ducati offers four years with unlimited mileage warranty. Expect the new Multi V2 first thing next year.
