Royal Enfield’s biggest offerings, the Interceptor and Continental GT 650, undergo a slight metamorphosis for 2022, with tweaks to the engines now making them Euro V compliant. The range also adds five new colours and the accessories list expands.
Power and torque are unchanged despite the engine upgrade, the latter’s 52Nm arriving coincidentally at 5200rpm. Both of these updated models arrive in local showrooms a month from now, in early November. They are each covered by a three-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
Royal Enfield, now a major global player in the bike segment spanning the 250cc-750cc range, has seen dramatic success with its retro-styled 650 twins, selling over 2500 of them in Australia, with expectations of that number topping 3000 by year end.

With close to 10,000 happy customers, we believe that the newly introduced colours on the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, along with unique customisation options, will go a long way in bringing more enthusiasts into the fold.”
The Interceptor 650 Twin is now available in two new single-tone hues, Canyon Red and Ventura Blue; two new dual tone combos, Downtown Drag and Sunset Strip, and there’s an updated version of the ‘chrome’ variant in the Mark 2. It retains the Orange Crush colour and the popular two-tone Baker Express.
The Continental GT 650 café racer has five new colour options, including Rocker Red and British Racing Green solid tones. New two-tone hues include Dux Deluxe and Ventura Storm, while the chrome variant is also updated.
Royal Enfield is also introducing blacked out rims and mudguards in single tone colour variants for the Interceptor INT 650 Twin, in response to customer requests. The accessories list has expanded, and includes soft panniers.
The 2022 Interceptor ranges in price from $NZ10,490 for the single tone models to $10,990 for the chrome colour while the Continental GT kicks off at $10,790, the top model with the chrome finish selling for $11,190.
