Renault New Zealand is set to launch the new 12-seater Minibus variant of its full-size Master van this month, adding to the nameplate’s existing van and conversion options.
As opposed to the standard Master van, which is available in four different wheelbase lengths, the Minibus is only available in the one Long Wheel Base trim, boasting 4.3 metres between the wheels and an overall length of 6.2 metres.
Pricing for the new variant in its single trim is set at $72,990, which includes a three-year or 350,000km warranty and three years of roadside assistance.
Under the bonnet is a 2.3-litre four-cylinder producing 110kW of power and 350Nm of torque. It comes exclusively paired to Renault’s automated six-speed manual.
These might sound like humble figures, but according to Renault they’re good enough to grant the Minibus with a 2.5-tonne braked tow rating.
Inside, the luggage area is rated for a credible 3500-litres of cargo space, with the roof allowing for another 200kg of volume. There’s also 1.88-metres of internal standing room, with the Master’s low floor designed to make things easy for passengers.
Renault boasts that the Minibus’ gross vehicle mass of 3500kg means that anyone with a standard car license can drive one.
On top of requisite safety tech like hill-start assist, reverse parking sensors, a reverse camera, and electronic stability control, the Minibus also includes safety glass breakers, a fire extinguisher, and three-point belts for all occupants.
“The Renault Master Minibus is an ideal option for tourism operators, retirement villages, schools, sports clubs and any business requiring the need to shuttle people around safely, “ says Renault New Zealand general manager Sam Waller.
“The specification allows the Minibus to be driven on a regular car licence allowing a wide range of staff to drive the vehicle.”
