New Zealand’s most trusted tyre brand, Bridgestone is giving motorists even more reason to fit new tyres in February with the ‘Drive for a Cure’ promotion in support of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC).
For the entire month, Bridgestone will donate $3 to LBC for every Bridgestone-branded car, 4×4, SUV and van tyre sold through the network of Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Tyre Centre stores around the country. The funds raised will directly support people and families living with leukaemia and blood cancers in New Zealand.
“We’re proud to support blood cancer patients and their families through the meaningful work of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, and through our Drive for a Cure promotion, our customers can show their support for the vital work of the organisation simply by purchasing tyres,” said Bridgestone’s Director of New Zealand Business, John Staples.
“Giving back to the community is part of Bridgestone’s DNA through our global CSR commitment known as ‘Our Way to Serve’, and our partnership with the LBC is a key element how we bring this global initiative to life in New Zealand.
“This passion is shared across our network of more than 180 Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Tyre Centre stores across New Zealand, knowing that the funds raised will genuinely make a difference to people affected by blood cancer.”
Each day, eight Kiwis are diagnosed with blood cancer, with an estimated 21,000 people living with blood cancer in New Zealand, making it the fifth most common form of cancer in the country. Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ supports patients and families with personalised support, providing information and education, funding research, raising awareness, and advocacy.
Since 2017, Bridgestone New Zealand has been a major partner of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, raising more than $100,000 through various fundraising initiatives over the past few years. Bridgestone is also a regular participant of the Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenge, Shave for a Cure, and StepUp events in support of LBC.
According to Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand’s CEO, Peter Fergusson, the money raised by Bridgestone and its customers will make a direct impact to the lives of those living with blood cancer.
“Over the past 18 months we have been challenged to adjust the way we deliver support to patients and families facing a blood cancer diagnosis. Maintaining this vital support comes at a financial cost. Thanks to the ongoing commitment, kindness and passion of everyone at Bridgestone New Zealand, we can continue to ensure together that no-one need face their cancer journey alone,” Mr Fergusson said.
Bridgestone’s ongoing support of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand is a key local activity of the company’s Our Way to Serve CSR initiative, which aims to enhance the way people move, live, learn, work and play by focussing on three priority areas: people, mobility and the environment.
“Our support of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand showcases our commitment to our CSR initiatives and is a great example of how we work with our partners to deliver shared value.”
The Drive for a Cure promotion is taking place at Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Tyre Centre stores throughout New Zealand.
