Aston Martin is in for some radical changes to their front-engine sports cars. Changes so significant company chairman Lawrence Stroll says the DB11, DBS and Vantage will be like “all-new cars.”
All three models will be receiving engine, suspension and transmission updates.
For those that like technological gimmicks, you’ll be pleased to learn Aston will finally be receiving a touchscreen. Until now, Aston’s sports line-up have been using Mercedes’ old-fashioned trackpad system.
“How can you have an Aston Martin that sells for £150,000 with three-year-old technology?” Stroll said.
Aston says their new technology distances itself from Mercedes by giving everything “an English accent.”
Perhaps the best news of all is none of the cars will lose their current engine configurations.
The DBS will maintain its 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, while the DB11 and Vantage keep their twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8s. These are all likely to be upgraded to match AMG’s latest offerings.
Alongside the launch of the new-look Vantage, we expect Aston to also reveal the much-anticipated V12 Final Edition.
Stroll has said he wants Aston to sell 4000 front-engined sports cars a year. Cars will only be built based on demand. A move that Stroll says will cut back oversupply.
All-in-all, Stroll says the new Astons will have “no similarity at all to the current cars.” He added the trio will finally be “what those cars should have always felt like.”
No reveal dates are confirmed, but it’s believed Aston will pull the covers off their new machines towards the end of the year. Sales will then likely begin in early 2023.
