Subaru New Zealand has confirmed the next-generation WRX will begin from $59,990 as pre-orders are now open.
That price tag will get you three models: the manual sedan, automatic sedan and automatic wagon.
The tS performance models will cost $64,990. These do not include on-road costs.
There is no STI variant. Subaru has culled the top-of-the-line version, citing emission standards and changing consumer demand.
All WRX models have the standard 200kW of power from its 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and 350Nm of torque.
The tS range gives you a revamped suspension package, including electronic control dampers.
“When creating the 2022 WRX, Subaru’s engineers threw in everything from the tried and proven recipe of the last 30 years,” Subaru New Zealand managing director Wallis Dumper said.
“[These include] ultimate traction and handling thanks to Subaru’s All-Wheel Drive, the Boxer engine and aggressive styling.
“Then they’ve spiced it up with the addition of modern-day technological advancements, such as the Driver Monitoring System and Drive Mode Select.”
Every WRX features sport bucket seats to keep the driver’s body firmly in place, with controls within reach and eliminating the need to re-centre the body.
Subaru expects high demand for the next-gen WRX and urges keen customers to order in advance.
