Haval’s H6 GT and Hybrid medium SUVs have recently undergone crash testing, with each model earning five-star ANCAP safety ratings.
Both vehicles scored 90 per cent for adult occupant protection, 88 per cent for child occupant protection, 73 per cent for vulnerable road-user protection and 81 per cent for safety assist features.
Two additional tests were needed for the H6 Hybrid to ensure the high-voltage battery and other electrical components passed muster in a collision. It passed both.
GWM’s global modular platform along with a rigid body structure and active safety systems contribute to the five-star ratings.
All H6s feature autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot detection and lane change assist, along with forward collision warning and traffic sign recognition.
ANCAP chief executive officer, Carla Hoorweg, commented on the H6’s performance, stating, “This is an impressive achievement by GWM Haval. Delivering a 5-star vehicle against ANCAP’s latest 2022 protocols demonstrates the brand has kept pace with the latest safety standards and consumer safety expectations.”
The new H6 GT features coupe-like styling and is powered by the same 150kW/320Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that’s found in the other H6 variants.
We can expect the new H6 GT to arrive in New Zealand by July while the H6 Hybrid is already on sale here.
