The CEO of MG Motor Australia and New Zealand, Peter Ciao, has announced the appointment of a new Country Manager, Patrick Bourke, to oversee the growing marque’s future aspirations in New Zealand.
Speaking about the appointment, Mr Ciao said he was pleased to be able to welcome someone as experienced and well revered across the industry.
“I’m thrilled we have been able to attract a person of Patrick’s talent to be our next Country Manager. Patrick has more than 30 years global experience, having led teams at a number of large automotive companies in the UK, Belgium and Australia, from where he joins us and has played a key part in the brand’s sales strategies,” said Mr Ciao.
“The launch of our seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty, coupled with transparent Drive Away Pricing strategy, has increased our market share, increased support for New Zealanders looking for a new vehicle with peace of mind and has increased our brand awareness across the country.
“Patrick brings hands-on and in-depth technical experience within the automotive sector and I have every confidence he will continue to focus on our customers and help maximise future opportunities and growth aspirations, especially as we move into an exciting phase of electrification including the upcoming launch of the all-new MG ZS EV.”
Mr Bourke has been part of the MG team for over three years and, in his time as the General Manager of Sales, market share for the brand in Australia has grown from 0.9% in 2019 to 4.6% end of May year-to-date.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to lead the MG business in New Zealand into what promises to be an exhilarating period of significant growth,” said Mr Bourke.
“I know New Zealand is comparatively well advanced in terms of acceptance of plug-in motoring and MG is in a great position to offer a variety of mobility solutions in this space, we also have a wide range of attractive and affordable non-electric models.
“Our seven-year trifecta of warranty, roadside assistance and WoF checks on all vehicles is also a key reason why prospective customers have MG on their consideration list.
“MG also offers an established and local Head Office operation, a comprehensive nationwide dealer network with community engagement and involvement, as well as After Sales support.
“I have great aspirations for MG and can’t wait to see more Kiwis driving this fantastic product.”
Mr Bourke commences his new role on July 1.
