After the recent release of its LAMS-legal ADV, the X-Cape 650, a resurgent Moto Morini has followed up with two more variants sharing the same engine. Both are nakeds, one a standard bike and the other an urban scrambler. They’re known as the Seiemezzo (meaning six and a half) SCR (the Scrambler) and STR (naked street bike).
Both are powered by the same liquid-cooled 649cc parallel twin that’s found in the X-Cape, good for 44kW and 56Nm. So these will also be LAMS legal models in New Zealand.
They weigh in at around 200kg claimed and are said to have a top speed of 169km/h. Each runs a 16-litre fuel tank.
Up front are double 298mm front brake discs, while a single 255mm unit slows the rear wheel. All brake units have dual-piston callipers, and ABS is standard.
Suspension is the same on both bikes, 43mm front forks by Kayaba with 120mm of wheel travel, and a monoshock at the rear with adjustable preload and the same amount of travel. The frame is steel, while the swingarm is constructed of aluminium.
Differentiating the pair are wire-spoked wheels for the scrambler and alloys for the STR. Rubber is by Pirelli, Angel GTs sized at 120/70-18 up front, and 160/60-17 at the rear.
While the wheelbase (1425mm) and seat height (810mm) are shared, the SCR is taller (890 vs 820mm) and wider (1155 vs 1120mm).
Finally, the STR will be available in white, red and dark grey hues, while the SCR will show up in green and black.
Both machines should be here by Q4, ready for summer riding, the STR with an estimated price of $12,290 and the SCR going for a likely $12,790.
