The Meyers Manx 2.0 Electric has recently been revealed as an all-new EV beach buggy featuring the iconic retro styling of the original.
Many people know of the Meyers Manx as being one of the swinging ’60s most iconic vehicles with the original being created in 1964 by Bruce Meyers. It featured a fiberglass body with the engine and transmission adopted from the Volkswagen Beetle.
Current owner of the Meyers Manx brand, Trousdale Ventures, has brought new life to the vehicle in the form of the 2.0 Electric model.
Designed by Freeman Thomas, CEO of Meyers Manx, the new EV buggy incorporates the original’s iconic styling with modern-day cues.
The buggy’s relatively short body features protruding fender flares, no doors and what looks to be a hard top roof covering the interior. Chunky off-road tyres help the buggy grapple any large sand dunes that come its way with help from its high ground clearance.
While the original had its engine mounted out back, the 2.0 Electric shifts its weight under the floor courtesy of its battery pack.
It is said that the new buggy will get a choice of 20kWh and 40kWh batteries, giving it a range of 241km or 482km.
Weighing 680kg or 750kg depending on the choice of battery, the Manx 2.0 has a claimed 0 to 100km/h time of 4.5 seconds.
