The days of the internal combustion engine are numbered at SUV-brand Haval, which has announced it will stop selling petrol-powered vehicles from 2030.
It’s reported that by the end of the decade, Haval will have put its sole focus into manufacturing “new energy” vehicles like plug-in hybrids (PHEV), battery electric vehicles (EV) and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
In doing so, the Chinese carmaker also announced its “New Energy” brand which will focus on developing more sustainable energy solutions for its vehicles.
At a recent press conference in Beijing, Li Xiaorui, General Manager of Haval’s parent company, GWM, said new energy vehicles will account for 80 per cent of the company’s sales by 2025.
Rival Chinese carmaker BYD stopped manufacturing purely internal combustion powered vehicles earlier this year and now only sells EVs and PHEVs.
