Honda is planning to cut production of its vehicles by up to 40 per cent next month due to continuous supply chain and logistics issues.
The Japanese carmaker said part shipment delays due to the on-going pandemic along with semiconductor shortages are to blame for the cuts, impacting multiple plants across Japan.
In Saitama prefecture, the Honda assembly plant plans to cut production by 40 per cent while two lines at the Suzuka plant in western Japan plan to reduce production by 30 per cent reports Reuters.
Production of models like the Vezel, Stepwgn and Civic is said to be affected.
However, Honda’s rival Toyota is feeling hopeful saying it expects production numbers to rise in the coming months.
