Luxury carmaker Bentley has introduced us to its Flying Spur Speed. Along with extra power, the company says it is the most driving-focused version of the model.
Sitting above the Flying Spur S, the Speed boasts an extra 62kW and 130Nm from its twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine which now brings power to 466kW and 900Nm.
Top speed has increased to 333km/h while 0 to 100km/h takes 3.8 seconds but owners of such a car would probably prefer to be chauffeured around in comfort rather than hitting v-max. Still, it’s nice to know that kind of performance is there.
The Speed will be also one of the final models to feature the iconic W12, with production of the unique engine set to wind down.
Electronic all wheel steering, torque vectoring by brakes and Bentley’s Dynamic Ride suspension come as standard.
It retains a familiar look to the current flock of Flying Spurs but now includes dark trim pieces like its front grilles, and headlamp and tail light surrounds. Speed badging can be found on the lower front quarter panels too.
Unique 22-inch wheels come as standard while a sportier looking gloss black or satin wheel is also available. Bentley’s Styling Specification which adds a carbon fibre splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and subtle boot lid spoiler can be optioned as well as the Blackline Specification.
To uphold its driving-focused status, the driver information panel now features new performance oriented graphics. Speed doesn’t mean lack of comfort though with the model featuring comfort specification 24-way adjustable front seats and 12-way adjustable rears as standard.
Sport pedals, Speed badges and emblems round out the interior and in true Bentley style, a choice of up to 15 different interior colours are available at no extra cost.
