The Suzuki Swift has reached ‘new sales highs’ in the light car sector in New Zealand, says its local distributor.
Although year to date registration figures for all new passenger cars have risen by 1.5 per cent, the Swift has seen an increase in sales by approximately 29 per cent over the same period.
The Swift has also extended its lead in the light car segment which has now reached 32.1 per cent. That’s up from January to October last year’s figure of 30.1 per cent.
It’s no secret that Kiwis love the Swift considering it has been the top-selling Suzuki in New Zealand since the 2005 model was released.
Fuel efficiency is part of its appeal which continues to capture small car buyer’s attention. The Swift has been a category winner multiple times in our own Car of the Year awards.
Five out of seven Swift models qualify for Clean Car Rebates, one of which is the Hybrid model with a $3160 discount.
“Consumers like the light controls, responsiveness and fun factor of the iconic and good looking Swift,” said Gary Collins, General Manager of Motor Vehicle Marketing for Suzuki New Zealand Ltd.
“As with other Suzuki models they also have an impressive reputation for reliability and they appreciate the Swift’s 5-Star ANCAP safety rating across all the automatic versions.”
New Zealanders have also fallen in love with the four-wheel drive Jimny which has seen an 11.8 per cent increase in sales even though the small SUV market has decreased by 12 per cent.
