The future vision of Ram Trucks has been revealed at the CES 2023 technology show in the form of the 1500 Revolution Battery-electric Vehicle (BEV) Concept.
Pickup truck or ute owners are in for a bit of a shakeup in the next few years with electrification now creeping into the more utilitarian models.
Ram is one such brand which wants to “redefine” the pickup segment with its newly-revealed concept setting the tone for its future vehicles.
Although we haven’t been given the low down on its technical specifications just yet, we’re told the concept is loaded with “advanced technology”.
The EV pickup has been built on Stellantis’ body-on-frame STLA Frame architecture which has been developed specifically for electric vehicles, giving the Ram all-wheel drive capability from its two motors.
A range of up to 161km can be added in 10 minutes thanks to 350kW DC fast charging while full battery capacity is unknown at this point.
Also on board is multi-height air suspension and four-wheel steering with up to 15 degrees of articulation.
Its new face features modernised Ram badging and an LED “tuning fork” headlight design which will influence the look of the brand’s upcoming models.
“Grand saloon style” opening doors are used to access the interior which is said to offer more flexibility between work and leisure. The bed can also be extended to carry longer loads.
A configurable workspace now features inside as the centre console can be removed while more passengers can be ferried around with the truck’s third-row jump seats.
The production model of the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is set to be introduced in the coming months with a full launch expected in 2024.
