The reveal of the Mazda CX-90, the brand’s new flagship model, is two weeks away with the carmaker revealing that it will be its most powerful production car yet.
Giving the SUV its claim to fame is Mazda’s new turbocharged 3.3-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine which makes 254kW and 500Nm of torque.
While the engine will debut in the smaller CX-60, the motor has been specially tuned for the CX-90, making an additional 45kW.
A 48V mild-hybrid system will also be available on the model to improve fuel efficiency.
Mazda says the model’s rear-biased all-wheel drive layout supports a performance-focused experience while it will also receive the Kinematic Posture Control system first introduced on the MX-5.
We await the full reveal of the Mazda CX-90 on February 1, 2023 before its arrival into New Zealand later this year.
