The first factory-built right-hand drive Corvette Z06 has officially been revealed in Australia this week, giving us a glimpse of what we can expect when the model arrives on New Zealand shores.
Making the unveiling all the more special was the fact that the Corvette celebrated its 70th anniversary just as the covers were taken off at General Motors Special Vehicles’ head office in Port Melbourne.
Attendees were treated to the Z06’s all-new naturally aspirated LT6 5.5-litre V8 which features a flat-plane crankshaft, enabling the engine to rev up to 8600rpm.
Bigger brakes adjoin the model’s track-focussed fit-out with six-piston calipers clamping a 370mm disc up front and four-piston units taking care of the 380mm rear discs which provide increased stopping power over the standard Stingray.
Large 20-inch forged aluminium wheels have been fitted to the front axle whereas 21-inch units are bolted to the rear.
Inside the tech-laden cabin, there’s a carbon fibre steering wheel and shift paddles, leather wrapped door panels, bucket seats upholstered with Napa leather, and more.
“This new Z06 is indicative of what customers in Australia and New Zealand can expect from a MY24 Z06, as we will be offering 3LZ trim as standard,” said Greg Rowe, Director, GM Specialty Vehicles.
The Corvette Z06 shown features the Z07 Performance Package which adds larger brakes with ceramic dics, carbon fibre aero, unique suspension tuning, stickier tyres, and optional carbon fibre wheels.
