Nissan ramps up EV strategy with 19 new models by 2030

Nissan has announced it will ramp up its EV strategy by releasing an additional four new models on top of the 15 it plans to introduce by 2030.

The plan is all part of Nissan Ambition 2030 which initially outlined that the brand would expand its electrified vehicle lineup to 23, and fully electric model range to 15 by the end of the decade.

Now it will add four more hybrids and EVs to each of those figures, bringing their respective totals to 27 and 19.

The new models will be shared between Nissan and its luxury arm, Infiniti, with the electrification mix said to increase to more than 55 per cent globally, up front the previous forecast of 50 per cent.

In Europe alone, the carmaker will increase its electrified sales mix from 75 per cent to 98 per cent while its home country of Japan gets a small bump to 58 per cent from 55 per cent.

As for China, its electrified vehicle sales mix has gone down to 35 per cent from 40 per cent. Nissan’s US lineup will be made up of 40 per cent EVs by 2030.

Little detail has been shared on what exact models the brand plans to release but reports suggest a hybrid GT-R (R36) is on the cards along with a fully electric 200SX successor.
