MG Motor New Zealand has announced that orders will soon be taken for the fully electric MG4 with pricing also being announced.
The newest EV from the brand will start at $54,990 plus ORC, excluding Clean Car Rebate, for the 64kWh battery-equipped Essence model.
Driving range comes to 435km on a single charge which when drained, can be juiced back up to 80 per cent using a 50kW DC fast charger in one hour.
The MG4 is powered by a rear-mounted 150kW electric motor and features a low centre of gravity as well as 50:50 weight distribution.
It’s the first model from the carmaker that makes use of its Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) which is said to pave the way for the next generation of MG’s lineup.
This allows the car’s wheelbase to be stretched to 2705mm, offering plenty of storage space inside the cabin and boot which is enabled by the 110mm thick battery, creating a flat floor.
The Essence arrives with plenty of technology too, including the MG Pilot driver assist system, automatic LED headlights, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, automatic climate control and MG iSmart app connectivity.
It also comes standard with a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.
Making up the exterior is a two-tone coloured roof, a ‘twin aero’ rear spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels and other appointments.
The MG4 Essence will be available to order from MG dealers across New Zealand from Tuesday, 11 April 2023.
