The date is set, Ineos has announced it will give us our first proper look at the new Grenadier Quartermaster ute at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
Upon announcing the reveal date, the British chemical company and carmaker also released a teaser of the upcoming dual-cab which shows off its tailgate and rear lights.
Admittedly, this doesn’t reveal much, but thanks to a series of spy shots that surfaced online earlier this year, we do have a better idea of what the new model will look like.
It’s much the same as a Grenadier wagon but forgoes the rear cargo space for a shortened passenger compartment, while a separate rear tray has been mounted at the back.
The body-on-frame chassis has reportedly been stretched to a 3175mm wheelbase from the wagon’s 2922mm, while the only change to the drivetrain made for the longer model was a lengthened driveshaft.
That means a BMW-derived turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six will no doubt make a reappearance under the bonnet, connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive transfer case. It’s also said to have a braked towing capacity of 3500kg, matching the current industry standard for utes.
The Grenadier Quartermaster is currently shown on local dealership Armstrong’s website, suggesting Kiwi customers will be able to purchase the model soon.
Ineos will also debut a Grenadier that has been fitted with Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology at Goodwood this year to demonstrate the vehicle’s capabilities as a zero-emissions off-roader.
The Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster ute will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 13 to 16 July 2023.
