David O’Connell, Managing Director of Geneva Finance, has advised that he will retire on 11 August 2023.
He leaves the role to pursue personal business interests and to spend more time with his family, according to an announcement made to NZX.
O’Connell took over as the finance company’s Managing Director in 2008 when the company was in moratorium and has guided the business to where it is today.
Taking over the position for an interim period while the company evaluates its options is Malcolm Johnston, who has served on Gevena’s board since February 2020.
“Geneva is in a very good place, with a strong executive team and both the Insurance and lending operations, In particular, now experiencing very good growth,” says O’Connell.
“I have every confidence that under Malcolm’s leadership, the team will capitalise on this to further enhance and grow shareholder returns and value.
“Finally, I want to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Geneva who have contributed to the achievements of the company to date.”
