BMW has announced that the new 5 Series Touring will make its debut in the first half of 2024 and in addition, the brand has treated us to a new teaser of the model.
Upon making the announcement, the German carmaker added that the new variant will be available in the same range of drives as the sedan version, meaning it’ll be offered in fully electric i5 form.
The new 5 Series Touring will also come with a range of petrol- and diesel-powered engines featuring 48V mild hybrid technology, as well as a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. BMW has previously confirmed that it’s developing a wagon version of the M5, just like it has already done with the current generation M3.
A combustion-engined 5 Series won’t be sold in New Zealand, but we will be getting the i5 before the end of this year. However, there’s no confirmation as to whether or not we’ll get the Touring bodystyle.
If we do, we can expect it to look exactly like the new 5 Series sedan but with a longer roofline that stretches back towards the rear hatch. It’ll also be given a set of restyled taillights which look to have a different light signature based on the new teaser of its side profile.
For now, we’ll just have to wait until autumn next year until we get our first full look at the new BMW 5 Series Touring.
