The driver of this rare Ferrari 275 GTB will be kicking himself after crashing the $5.3 million classic while leaving a shopping centre in San Rocco al Porto, Italy.
Thankfully the 60-year-old was uninjured according to the Italian publication Il Piacenza, but his car on the other hand came off a bit worse for wear.
Details on how the incident occurred haven’t been made available, but it’s understood the bright yellow prancing horse lost control due to damp road conditions and subsequently collided with a wooden fence.
The damage to the vehicle itself looks limited to the passenger side fender and front grille opening, but considering those very panels were hand-beaten into shape, it won’t be a cheap fix. Let’s just hope this isn’t one of the 80 alloy-bodied models either.
Speaking of rarity though, Ferrari produced less than 500 examples of the 275 GTB between 1964 and 1966, with each featuring a 3.3-litre ‘Colombo’ V12 under the bonnet. An updated GTB/4 variant was offered from 1966 to 1968 which came equipped with an updated quad-cam engine that had a bit more pep in its step.
Little information is known about the model involved in the crash, but we sure hope it’s restored to its former glory.
From now on, the Ferrari’s owner will probably think twice about taking his pride and joy out for a drive when grey clouds are looming.
