Sir Colin Giltrap, the founder of the Giltrap Group, has been hospitalised after he suffered a fall in London.
His ribs were reportedly broken in the fall but the 83-year-old is now said to be making a recovery with his wife and son Richard by his side. Son Michael plans to travel to London shortly.
Giltrap Group spokesperson Shaun Summerfield said the family thanked those who wished them well in a statement, via AutoTalk.
“Sir Colin is recovering after a fall left him with broken ribs. He is now looking forward to spending Christmas with his family in London.
“The Giltrap family is grateful for the many kind messages Colin has received.”
In May this year, Colin stepped down from his role as the chairman of the Giltrap Group and handed over the reins to his two sons as equal shareholders.
Colin remains as a director alongside his sons and two other team members, including chairman Chris Quin.
