Trade Me Motors has revealed the top ten listings Kiwis had their eyes on in 2023, with the most viewed going to a multi-million dollar supercar that may very well be the only one in the country.
We’re of course talking about the 2019 McLaren Senna GTR which was put up for sale for an eye-watering $3.25 million, making it the most expensive listing of 2023, as well as the most admired with a total of 156,979 views.
“It’s an ultra-rare car, one of just 75 worldwide and reportedly the only in Aotearoa,” says Head of Trade Me Motors Jayme Fuller.
Fuller also reminded us that the GTR is McLaren’s hardcore track-only variant of the Senna, a car that can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 352km/h.
Second to the Senna was a 2018 Ford GT that had an asking price of $1.95 million, wracking up 120,294 views.
The American supercar is just one of two in New Zealand, with this particular example being finished in Shadow Black. It’s also a fairly high-spec model too as the listing states that the car has been fitted with over $120k of factory extras with pretty much every option available being ticked.
Rounding out the top three listings for the year was Kim Dotcom’s rather pink 1959 Cadillac Series 62 which sold for $201,100.
Most of the other top ten listings were desirable classics, including a 1965 Ford Mustang, a trio of Volkswagen Kombi vans, a 1977 Land Rover Series 3, and a 2002 Holden Commodore SS.
An early childhood education trailer belonging to New Zealand’s well-known Harold The Giraffe wound up in ninth place with 59,038 views, its sale of which raised over $22,000 for the Life Education Trust.
It wasn’t just land-based vehicles that were among the most viewed vehicles of last year, as New Zealand television host Paul Henry’s Van Der Heijden yacht rounded out the top ten with over 47,000 views.
