If you thought the newly updated 2024 Porsche Taycan was already batshit quick, then wait until you hear that the German carmaker is cooking up an even hotter version with its eyes set on the track.
Set to be revealed on March 11 at 2 pm CET, or March 12 at 2 am New Zealand time, the new Taycan promises to be the brand’s top model and is likely the same one that lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife earlier this year in 7:07.55.
All that has been shown of the new top-specification variant so far is its shadowy silhouette which features one key body part that wasn’t there before – a rather large rear wing. It looks as if it’s an active unit as well, with what appears to be actuators mounted to each strut that we imagine allow it to pitch up or down during braking.
Based on spy images of what NZ Autocar believes is the same model, we can safely assume the new Taycan will be equipped with a set of redesigned front and rear bumpers, different wheels, and lower suspension.
Regarding power, the current top-of-the-range Taycan, the Turbo S, produces an obscene 700kW with launch control engaged which means it can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2.4 seconds. The new track-focussed variant will no doubt easily be able to eclipse this, but by how much, that’s what we have yet to find out.
What the new model variant will be called remains a mystery, but several overseas reports suggest it’ll wear the Turbo GT nameplate.
For now, all we can do is sit tight and wait for March 11 at 2 pm CET, or March 12 at 2 am New Zealand time, to roll around.
