Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas recently tried his hand at drifting one of Australia’s finest vehicles, a Ford Falcon ute, which you can watch for yourself in a hilarious new video.
Joining the Finn was Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber teammate Zhou Guanyu whose car of choice was an equally hoon-worthy Nissan Skyline (R33) sedan.
To show the boys a thing or two, Jesse from Keep It Reet was on hand to put them up against a few challenges at Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne, Australia.
The first task was to successfully perform a donut around a cone, something Bottas and Zhou had no trouble getting down. Next up was the challenge of sliding their respective cars into a fairly tight parking space which proved a little more difficult, before the pair took to the larger track to drift through a wall of boxes.
This isn’t the first time a Formula 1 driver has gotten behind the wheel of a drift car, as you may remember last year three-time world champion Max Verstappen had a go in New Zealander Mad Mike’s prized Mazda RX-7 ‘MADBUL’.
However, we have to say it doesn’t get more iconic than Bottas sliding an AU while sporting Aussie’s favourite hairstyle, the mullet. With that, could we see him trade in his open-wheeler for the hydraulic handbrake? Probably not, but it’s fun to fantasise.
