More images of the BYD Shark, the plug in hybrid double cab ute from the Chinese maker, have been revealed on the brand’s Instagram feed ahead of its official unveiling next week.
The images show a few blokes on the back of the Shark in what we guess will be a series of road tripping posts highlighting the truck’s range ability.
The post read; “From remote towns to boundless deserts, the BYD SHARK awaits your endless adventures. With its robust off-road capabilities and the DMO technology, leave range anxiety behind and savor the journey of exploration.”
Apparently the truck will be revealed in Mexico, when more information about the powertrain and capability will be revealed. Locally the Shark will make its debut at Fieldays.
The truck featured is likely a high end model with its roof rails, sports bar, and large alloys. About the only detail the pictures give away is that the Shark has a traditional, fold down tailgate at the rear and a tray liner.
It said the dual motor hybrid powertrain is good for over a thousand kilometres of combined driving range which includes 100km of pure electric drive.
BYD has a few hybrid models in its greater portfolio with the Fang Cheng Bao 5 SUV pairing a 1.5 turbo petrol with two electric motors for an output of 500kW and 760Nm. So the ute could have some serious numbers.
It’s likely to go on sale either late 2024 or early 2025.
