New Zealanders will have yet another ute to choose from in the coming months with the JAC T9 confirmed to launch here soon. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.
The JAC (apparently pronounced Jack) T9 is already on sale in Australia and it comes to New Zealand with a five-star ANCAP safety rating thanks to a full suite of safety systems, including seven airbags.
JAC T9 specifications
The T9 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel with 120kW of power and 410NM of torque, made from 1500 to 2500RPM. It uses an 8-speed auto with selectable 4×4. The combined fuel consumption is listed at 7.6L/100km on the Aussie website.
It’s just over 5.3m long, has a payload of 1045 kg and a braked towing rating of 3000kg.
Some 300,000 of these T9s have been produced so far from the factory in China and it is also on sale in South Africa.
Where can you buy a JAC T9 in NZ?
JAC already has an established nationwide network of dealers and support says JAC General Manager, Andrew Craw.
“Our goal for JAC was to be able to provide Kiwis with support up and down the country. We’ve already had nationwide servicing coverage for our light trucks through our Southpac network, and our existing two sales locations, so adding nine new full dealerships from the Colonial Motor Company (CMC) network is another milestone for the brand.”
The new locations will include New Plymouth, Pukekohe, Masterton, Lower Hutt, Kapiti, Timaru, Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown, complementing the existing two dealerships in Manukau and Christchurch.
