Triumph Motorcycles has released its new Tiger Sport 800, a dedicated sport tourer that features a completely fresh IL3 engine.
The concept is a mix of sports performance and long-distance touring capability.
Its new 800cc three-cylinder engine outputs 85kW at 10,750rpm while 90 per cent of its 84Nm peak torque figure is available throughout the midrange. Expect plenty of responsiveness at everyday revs. A stainless steel exhaust is standard fit.
Suspension comprises Showa 41mm upside down forks with rebound and compression adjustment. At the rear is a Showa monoshock with rebound adjustability and remote adjustment for preload. Radial brakes with four-piston calipers, and a kerb weight of 214kg hint at responsive braking.
Standard fit deflectors provide wind protection while roomy ergonomics and plush seats, along with integrated grab handles ensure comfort for two during extended rides.
Three ride modes and switchable traction control are standard while a quickshifter and cruise control limit rider fatigue on longer journeys. ‘Road’ setting is for everyday work, the ‘Sport’ mode unlocks added throttle response, and ‘Rain’ mode is deliberately softer.
Also standard are cornering ABS and cornering traction control, enhancing road safety in all conditions. Lightweight cast aluminium wheels run Michelin Road 5 sport touring tyres.
Other kit includes all LED lights along with DRLs, LCD and TFT instruments featuring turn-by-turn navigation, and Bluetooth phone connectivity.
Over 40 approved accessories are available, including an Akrapovič slip-on silencer with a titanium wrap and carbon fibre end cap, heated grips, full luggage, and a twin-helmet top box. A slip and assist clutch ensures light and precise feel at the lever, a boon in the city.
Tiger Sport 800 features a roomy, upright riding position and a seat set at 835mm. A variable height windscreen is adjustable using one hand. And an 18.6 litre fuel tank is another asset when it comes to touring.
The My Triumph Connectivity System is fitted as standard, facilitating turn-by-turn navigation, phone and music all controlled via Bluetooth. Like all Triumphs, this comes with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Colours are Sapphire Black, Graphite grey, Cosmic Yellow, and Caspian Blue, all with contrasting Sapphire Black elements.
Tiger 800 Sport arrives in Q2 of 2025 when pricing becomes available.
