Lewis Hamilton, the seven time Formula 1 champion, has started his new job with Ferrari. And doesn’t he look happy about it?
Hamilton announced his move to Ferrari last year after 12 seasons and six drivers’ championship wins at Mercedes.
Hamilton said he is looking forward to ‘a new era’.
“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days. I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today.
“Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”
After posing with the F40 at the team’s headquarters, the British F1 driver headed to Ferrari’s Fiorano track to meet Team Principal Fred Vasseur and CEO Benedetto Vigna.
Hamilton will drive a Ferrari F1 car for the first time tomorrow when he will get behind the wheel of the F1-75, Ferrari’s race car used during the 2022 season.
Hamilton will be alongside his teammate Charles Leclerc for the Formula One season launch event at the O2 Arena on 18 February, before Ferrari unveil their 2025 challenger the following day.
His first race for Ferrari will be at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on 16 March.
