The Alfa Romeo Tonale will arrive in New Zealand just in time to round out summer, with the model being offered in two different variants.
Both are set to arrive in the country with hybrid power from February 2023 with a plug-in hybrid variant set to join the line-up later on that year.
Under the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre four-cylinder mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and a 48V battery which produces 118kW and 240Nm of torque.
The turbocharged petrol unit is said to enable a “diesel-like” fuel economy of 5.6 litres per 100km which is assisted by the 15kW electric motor as part of the hybrid system.
Inside, the Tonale has been fitted with Alcantara seats and a 12.3-inch driver instrument display as well as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Both variants will arrive with driver assistance systems like a 360-degree surround camera, collision avoidance systems, and level 2 autonomous driving.
New ‘3+3’ headlights with an LED matrix complete with an adaptive dipped beam and high beam.
Underneath the Tonale features a brake-by-wire system alongside adaptive dampers made by Koni.
In terms of variants, the Ti starts out the line-up at $59,990 and comes with a gloss black body kit, 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, carbon cloth and leatherette seats, among other features.
The higher specification Veloce starts at $69,990 which features dark finishes all round, Brembo brake calipers, 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, Alcantara and leatherette seats, level 2 autonomous driving with traffic jam assist, side parking sensors, and more.
Kiwis can expect the Alfa Romeo Tonale SUV to arrive in New Zealand come February 2023.
