New Zealand’s newest car brand, Omoda, has today announced that all of its models will come with a seven-year warranty regardless of mileage.
From March, the local arm of the Chinese carmaker will introduce the first two models in its line-up, the C5 and fully electric E5.
The petrol-powered C5 will come with two engine options at launch, a turbocharged 1.5-litre making 108kW and 210Nm of torque, mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and a more powerful turbocharged 1.6-litre that sends 147kW and 290Nm through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
As for the EV, it comes with a 61kWh battery that allows for up to 450km of range on a single charge and will be able to recharge from 10 to 80 per cent in 35 minutes. The battery itself is covered by an eight-year waranty.
Looking ahead, the new-to-us marque plans to introduce eight models in New Zealand over the next two years, all of which will be covered by the seven-year warranty. All Omoda owners will also receive roadside assistance for the same duration.
“We know bringing a new brand to New Zealand is a big step for Kiwis to take, so by offering one of the most generous warranties on the market and the guarantee of parts and roadside assistance, we can show our commitment to New Zealand customers and this market ahead of launch,” says Sheldon Humphries, Omoda Country Manager.
