Dwayne and Matt Carter’s Brabham BT62 will finally make its race debut next month at Hampton Downs.
The track-focused hypercar was initially intended to compete in this year’s South Island Endurance Series.
However, the team missed out on racing due to lockdowns and travel restrictions.
With Auckland set to re-establish travel to and from the region in mid-December, the Carter boys can finally see how their weapon goes in race trim.
Hampton Downs will host what is touted as the first race meeting run under the ‘traffic light’ system.
The event will be over December 18-19 and feature an open GT race on Saturday and Sunday.
“There are new GT3 cars here now which are all looking to do some time on track,” Speed Works managing director Geoff Short said.
“Anyone who has a current or older GT or Carrera Cup car or something similar will be very welcome to come along and race.”
Short said he expects five newly arrived GT3 cars to be racing in the open event.
Other classes racing over the weekend include GTRNZ, Honda Cup, Mazda Racing Series, 2K Cup and two grids of BMWs.
The Toyota 86 championship will have testing sessions slotted in and around the weekend ahead of their season beginning in January.
