A year ago Buell Motorcycle revealed a SuperTouring 1190 prototype and this week saw the company unveil the production version, a much improved rendition.

While the twin headlights look much the same, as does much of the bodywork, industrial designer J. Ruiter has waved his wand over the bike. A fresh new front fairing makes it look much more showroom ready, with some must-have winglets even.
At its core is Buell’s 1190cc ET-V2 engine, the oversquare V-twin packing 138kW (185bhp) at 10,600rpm while peak of 138Nm arrives at 8200rpm.

Buell Motorcycle CEO, Bill Melvin, said at the launch that the company has applied its core DNA to the performance touring segment. The result is a touring bike that the company feels will lead the American market in performance and handling.
Special Buell features include a 382mm perimeter-mount disc brake up front, a fuel-in-frame design and generous use of carbon fibre components to keep weight in check (kg not stated). Melvin believes that the machine will bring excitement back to US touring motorcycles. Production is evidently set to begin later this year.
Pricing is said to be set already, kicking off at $US21,995, with pre-order reservations available now at $25.

Only a few weeks earlier, Buell unleashed its Super Cruiser, claiming it would reset the benchmark for cruiser performance in the US. Now with the reveal of the SuperTouring, the promise of models making it into production seems closer than ever and will hopefully solidify the fortunes of the fledgling bike maker after a series of false starts.
