After launching in New Zealand nearly a year ago, the local arm of BYD is expanding its operations with three new dealerships, bringing its national total to 15.
Each of the new locations will be home to both sales and service departments, with each set to open on the same day, 1 September 2023.
Starting with the northernmost of the three dealers, customers and interested buyers will soon be able to browse the BYD range in Taranaki at Energy Motors, located at 24 Eliot Street in New Plymouth.
Next is Bayswater BYD in Napier, which will open a sister showroom to its Hastings site.
Finally, The Car Company will bring the Chinese carmaker to the upper South Island at 150 Rutherford Street, Nelson.
“The further expansion of the BYD dealer network shows the confidence and reputation of the BYD brand, and its remarkable growth since August 2022,” says Warren Willmot, Brand Manager for BYD NZ.
“BYD New Zealand only partners with carefully selected dealers, who prioritise customer experience. To have such comprehensive coverage showcases our commitment to bringing a BYD to all NZ vehicle segments and to all New Zealanders.”
The fully electric brand has sold over 3500 vehicles and achieved a 19 per cent market share since it first landed here with the Atto 3. Those numbers are only set to grow with more models on the way, including the Dolphin hatchback and Seal sedan.
BYD NZ is currently seeking expressions of interest for parts and service providers in Rotorua, Taupo, Blenheim, and Timaru.
