ChargeNet has reported a 29 per cent increase in year-on-year revenue growth for H2 2024.
Utilisation of the charging network outpaced an 11 per cent increase in EV registrations for the Jul-Dec period.

In the second half of last year, ChargeNet saw a 20 per cent increase in energy delivered compared with H2 2023. Its CEO, Danucia Wypych, says continued growth highlights how an expanded network is meeting demand for reliable, high-speed charging.
She added the traditional summer peak in December 2024 saw record-breaking utilisation.
“EV adoption in New Zealand continues to grow. We’re seeing a positive shift towards greater utilisation of our high-powered 150kW and 300kW chargers. That’s making long-distance EV travel easier and more efficient.”

Enroute charging using high-speed chargers saw an uplift during summer. Meantime, destination chargers (like at Foodstuffs supermarkets) have also proven their value. New installations are showing strong early usage.

In 2024, ChargeNet added or improved 150 fast-charging points across the country. That increased its network by more than 50 per cent.
It wants to double the number of chargers in its network within three years.
The acquisition of a majority stake in ChargeNet by Genesis Energy in 2024 is enabling the company to maintain its investment in the country’s EV charging infrastructure.

Wypych acknowledges rising energy costs and is working with Vector to reduce these by optimising charging efficiency.
ChargeNet’s expansion and investment in New Zealand’s EV charging infrastructure ensures that as EV adoption accelerates, the charging network is ready to support the transition.
