A new six-episode miniseries is due to arrive on Netflix later this year called Senna. The exact date of release is unknown with Netflix only saying ‘late 2024’.
The trailer shows Ayrton driving his 1991 McLaren-Honda MP4/6 during the emotional Brazilian Grand Prix. Senna already a two-time word champion had never won his home GP.
Towards the end of the race, he had gearbox issues and was completely exhausted, struggling to exit his McLaren and hold up his trophy on the podium. The trailer ends with him screaming joyfully after winning his home race.
Senna is portrayed by Brazilian actor Gabriel Leone, Matt Mella as Alain Prost, Nelson Piquet by Hugo Bonemer, Niki Lauda played by Johannes Heinrichs, and James Hunt by Leon Ockenden.
The series is a fictional retelling of his life both behind the wheel and personal, spanning from his early days in karts, Formula Ford and Formula 1.
