General Motors Special Vehicles (GMSV) has today announced local pricing for its new top-of-the-range 2024 Chevrolet 2500 Heavy Duty, the pick-up to rule all pick-ups – at least here in New Zealand anyway.
Kiwis can expect to fork out $175,000 for the new model, which has been given a freshen-up inside and out, as well as a bump in power and a suite of new technological features.
In addition to a new front fascia for 2024, the interior has been updated with a new 13.4-inch infotainment screen, as well as a 12.3-inch unit for the driver.
Packed under the bonnet is a whopping 6.6-litre turbocharged diesel V8 engine making 350kW and a cool 1322Nm of torque. However, you’ll only be able to exploit the full fat if you have a truck license, granting you legal permission to tow up to 4500kg.
As for payload capacity in the rear tray, Kiwis can pretty much haul anything their heart desires – up to a weight of 1134kg that is.
All 2500 HDs sold locally will come standard with an automatic locking rear differential, adaptive cruise control, a host of trailer towing assists, and an exhaust brake.
“The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models can more than hold their own when it comes to touring and towing, but the 2500 HD is the truck you need when you want to get a big job done,” says Jess Bala, Managing Director of GM Australia & New Zealand.
