Suzuki says it has reached record market share levels as a result of the Clean Car Discount programme, with many of its models receiving rebates while none cop a fee.
The brand took nine per cent of the total passenger/SUV market in July, while it also brought home the honours for the third best selling passenger and SUV brand.
Suzuki has been averaging 747 registrations per month since the Clean Car Discount programme’s inception in April which equates to 8.2 per cent share over the period. However, the total market has reduced by 20 per cent over the same period.
The Suzuki Swift range achieves a rebate of up to $3,160 courtesy of the discount, increasing the model’s light segment market share to 31 per cent since April. Suzuki sold 406 of the hatchbacks in April with the model continuing to dominate the small car segment.
Suzuki’s second best selling model is the ever so popular four-wheel drive Jimny which continues to experience high demand with sales up 9.9 per cent for the January to July period compared to the same time last year.
The compact Suzuki Ignis SUV also saw a 6.9 per cent increase in sales for the year to date while the Vitara SUV registered its best month of the year. Vitara sales were up 12 per cent compared to the same month last year.
It’s also looking up for Suzuki internationally with sales in the first half of 2022 seeing a two per cent increase globally.
