Ducati has unveiled a third model that features the new lightweight 890cc V-twin engine. It has already been seen in the 2025 Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2. We should expect it to pop up in Monster sometime soon as well.
The latest engine for the Multistrada V2 hangs beneath a new monocoque frame, the engine acting as a stressed member. A steel trellis subframe bolts to the monocoque while the rear wheel sits within a cast aluminium swingarm.
So the 2025 Ducati Multistrada V2 is much lighter than its predecessor, the firm declaring it the class leader. In fact the V2 has shed 18kg; as a base Multistrada V2 it scales up at 199kg, while the V2 S is a svelte 202kg. Both ride on wheels made from cast aluminium, a 19-inch unit at the front and a 17 at the rear. Tyres are Pirelli Scorpion Trail IIs.
The new engine generates similar numbers to the old V2, give or take. Back in 2022 the Testastretta mill made 84kW at 9000rpm and 94Nm at 6750rpm. The new bike has the same 84kW, while torque is only slightly down on the old bike at 90Nm. While the latter is produced at higher revs, around 70 per cent is available from 3500rpm onwards, thanks to the adoption of variable valve timing. From there to 11,000rpm, the torque figure never drops below 75 per cent of maximum.
This and the much reduced weight will prove significant for performance. Five riding modes are on offer, comprising Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro and Wet.
Both bikes come standard with cruise control, and cornering ABS and traction control. The S also bags the semi-active Skyhook Suspension system from Showa. This includes a minimum preload system, so seat height may be lowered to 790mm when stationary.
There’s also a new five-inch TFT dash. The rider can adjust the cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC) within the instruments. The new dash also features selectable styles, Road, Road Pro and Rally, each placing the most important information in the most appropriate position.
New Multistrada V2 will only be available in Ducati Red. Opt for the Multistrada V2 S and you also have the option of Ducati Storm Green. Both should dot down here in the first half of next year.
