Jeep New Zealand has today announced that its electrified range of 4xe models is now available for Kiwi customers to order.
It was only a matter of time before the American brand’s current crop of SUVs ushered in a new era of efficiency, with three familiar models now arriving in plug-in hybrid form.
Starting out with the most affordable and smallest of the lot, the Renegade Limited 4xe is priced at $69,990 and combines a turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder with an electric motor and 11.4kWh battery.
Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, Jeep’s Uconnect 4 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, and more.
Second up is the $77,490 Compass 4xe in “S” trim which makes use of the same engine, electric motor, and battery as the Renegade but packs it into a larger body.
What you get is a set of 19-inch gloss black alloy wheels, pedestrian emergency braking, a 10.1-inch Uconnect infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a wireless charging pad for devices among other appointments.
Topping the range is the luxurious Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4xe, starting at $154,990.
Under the bonnet is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that partners with an electric motor to generate a combined 280kW and 637Nm of torque. It’s PHEV system makes use of a 14kW battery which is said to provide up to around 50km of range in fully electric mode.
The electrified Grand Cherokee also gets Jeep’s Quadra Trac II Active 4×4 System with selectable terrain modes, air suspension and active damping, 21-inch alloy wheels, a black painted roof, and more.
Inside you can find 12-way power adjustable front seats tripped in leather with the same upholstery found in the rear, a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system with a 950W amplifier, four-zone climate control, as well as an optional head-up display and night vision/pedestrian-animal detection system among other features.
Each of the three models also give you the ability to switch between hybrid and fully electric driving modes.
Jeep NZ is encouraging interested buyers to book a test drive of its electrified 4xe range at one of its authorised dealerships.
