Ford looks to be fitting the supercharged 5.2-litre from a Shelby GT500 in the upcoming F-150 Raptor R.
The suggestion comes from a picture shared on Instagram by the account ‘The Raptor Connection’ and shows a build sheet for the 2023 Raptor. Scribbled on the build sheet are the figures ‘5.2-litres.’
Do we trust this image? Maybe.
Do we want to? Yes.
The GT500 engine pumps out 567kW of power 847Nm of torque. If the same motor is squeezed into the F-150 Raptor, it would be a direct challenger to the Ram-TRX, which has a 523kW Hellcat V8.
Spy shots of the Raptor have circulated the internet for a while now. It appears to be essentially the same as the standard F-150, albeit with a bit more or a menacing hood design.
An official reveal is expected later this year, with the Raptor slated to launch in early 2023.
